The Shouting Softly Project

The Shouting Softly Project by Fliss Tattersall on WEDNESDAY 24th September 2025.

The ‘SHOUTING Softly Swindon’ project has involved a series of creative workshops for young women aged 14-25. There’s also been community events, community group visits and interviews with the aim of creating content.

This has been used to write a new play inspired by historic and contemporary female experience in Swindon. The project has received generous support from Arts Council England, and our partners.

The design of each workshop responds to research about female stories – working at close quarters with our project partners. They are:

  • STEAM
  • Prime Theatre
  • Museum and Art Gallery Swindon
  • Create Studios
  • Hub Swindon
  • Central Library
  • Local Studies Library and Swindon Heritage Preservation Trust.

About the Friends

The Friends of Museum and Art Swindon (FMAS) is a voluntary organisation. It promotes and publicises Swindon Museum and Art Gallery and its activities to as wide a public as possible. It raises funds to buy new items for the museum and encourages sponsorship for the improvement of the collections and facilities.

We’re a registered charity – Charity No. 1050267. We launched in July 1993 with a talk by our patron, the surrealist painter and zoologist, Dr Desmond Morris.
