Join us to hear the fascinating journey of Duncan Shoosmith, winner of 2019 Portrait Artist of the Year, the popular TV competition.

From his start as a self-taught painter searching for a style, we will learn about the early influences on his work. After the arrival of recognition and a TV commission came his big break, a place to show off his skills and art in front of an audience of millions, with all the pressure and excitement that brings.

About Duncan Shoosmith

Duncan Shoosmith is a Wiltshire based painter. He has twice exhibited as part of the BP Portrait Award at The National Portrait Gallery in London. In 2019 Duncan was the winner of  Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year.

He has work in many private collections worldwide, and is a member of The Contemporary British Portrait Painters.

When and where

Our talks take place in the council chamber in Swindon’s civic offices on Euclid Street. Doors open at 7pm.

£8 for members and £10 for non-members.
