Anne Desmet: Kaleidoscope

Anne Desmet: Kaleidoscope 23rd August 2023 – A Talk

Anne Desmet specializes in wood engraving, linocut, lithography and mixed-media collage. Her subject matter is largely architectural. Yet buildings are subject to metamorphoses relating to the effects of changing light, weather and time passing.

Desmet aims to suggest the timeless solidity, human aspiration, humour, hubris and folly that architectural forms can convey. Also their impermanence and vulnerability.

Her talk will address the evolving themes and diverse techniques involved in her work over the last forty years. There’ll be particular reference to her most recent museum exhibition of new work at the Pallant House Gallery earlier this year.
